Worlds Oceans Day June 8 2017

Halifax (and the world) celebrated World Oceans Day on June 8 2017 and we participated by sampling with our HoloSea in the Northwest Arm. Usually, once the spring bloom begins, we sample on a weekly basis to supplement our datasets for training purposes and general science.

The most striking feature noticeable when we arrived was the massive ctenophore bloom (they appear to be small jellyfish).

After admiring the bloom, and getting the HoloSea set up on a boat (though we never launched). We recorded about 45 minutes worth of data, totaling in over 50GB of data.
